Submissions Request for Wellesley Underground Young Alum of the Month
Over brunch this weekend in Brooklyn, a group of us were talking and thinking and talking some more. We love our alma mater and all the famous kick ass alums who went there: HRC, Maddy Albright, Cokie Roberts, Diane Sawyer, Ophelia Dahl, the list goes on…
but there are some unsung Wellesley heroes out there. who went back to their communities or formed new ones and are doing AMAZING things. we don’t hear about them as much. we hear more about that woman 30-40 years out who made it on the Fortune 500 or won a literary award.
but here at WU, we want to turn the spot light inward, on the rest of us who think you are doing something pretty fucking awesome and you are a “(wo)man who is making a difference” in your neighborhood, on your street, in your school, in your family, whatever.
So we want to pose an experiment and see how you, readers and lovers of WU respond: send us who YOU think should be Wellesley Underground’s Young Alum of the Month. Young Alum to us means anyone who graduated in the last 15 years, so thats 1995-2011. Please send us a short write up of what this person is doing and why you chose him, her, zie. Also attach a photograph (with their permission of course). You can send submissions to wellesleyunderground@gmail.com.
We’ll start with December and if we get lots of submissions, we’ll post one every month. Its time for us to start shining and being proud now, not later.
